Meet Craig Caruso of iPhone Developer CarusoApps.com

app

If you haven’t been paying close attention, you might not have realized the wide array of entrepreneurial talent that the current generation of twixter islanders has been developing. One of those entrepreneurs is Craig Caruso, founder of CarusoApps, an iPhone/iPod Touch application development firm based out of Staten Island.

The first project from CarusoApps is a management system for Baseball/Softball managers and players called iLineup.

This application is dedicated to all baseball/softball players, coaches, and managers. This app will allow users to set their player’s
lineup and batting order. Positions, Player Numbers, and Substitutions are also included. To assign a player click on the desired position on the Diamond and it will bring you to the “Add New Player” screen. You can also change the New Player’s Position from this screen. You can drag and drop players in the Line-Up screen as well as edit their information or remove them entirely (Via the company’s “Our Apps” page.)

The application is available for download by searching “iLineup” in the iTunes store.

We were able to ask Mr. Caruso a few questions about iLineup and CarusoApps:

DS: Can you give a little background on yourself?

CC: Sure Chris. I’m 25 years old and working full time as a Web Engineer at
a VOIP company in NJ. On the weekends I enjoy the normal things like
sports, movies, and hanging out with friends.

DS: Is this the first application you’ve developed?

CC: Yes. The Apple iPhone movement is strong and I felt like it was time to
join it.

DS: What inspired iLineup?

CC: I can honestly say iLineup was inspired by the two softball teams that I
play on – one at work and one in Brick, NJ. There were multiple
instances where the team would forget the playbook. So I thought since a
few people on my team have an iPhone a simple app would be helpful.
iLineup was created one month later.

DS: What other apps are you developing in the near future?

CC: I currently have 3 apps in the works.

1) We just finished a Realtor app that was submitted to the App Store on
12-2-2009. This was built for a friend of a friend. It’s a business card
app and looks for available homes in NJ.

2) We’re also building a poker app for another client for the sole
purpose of having the proceeds go to charity. I’m currently under a NDA
(non-disclosure agreement) until the app comes out in the App Store.

3) We’re also working on developing a game. Currently this is only an
idea in the works but it’s based on an arcade game in which the user
tries to move the ball to the top against gravity.

DS: Is there anyone else on your team?

CC:  Yes I have 2 other members

1.) Patrick Bianchi- Patrick specializes in technology enhancements for
the applications and testing. He also makes sure I spell everything
right since my grammar tends to be atrocious at times, But his main function is testing and the finer details of each app.

2.)Frank Van Hemert- Frank specializes in product ideas and development.
Frank is currently looking into the Android platform.

DS: You’ve advertised on Twitter that you can make any iPhone application
for paying customers, can you expand on that?

CC: Yes, Chris. We at Caruso Apps are a dual-developing company. We are
making apps for ourselves to host under our brand. We have also been
hired to create apps for our clients to host under their own name.

DS: Godspeed Mr. Caruso, we wish you luck with all of your future ventures.
