Founder and family

What we do

Dock Street is an investment manager for home service business owners. We help you grow your money by investing it in companies in the stock market. We pick those companies carefully and watch them closely. Our clients work hard to build their businesses. At some point, those businesses start making more money than they need to put back into them. That’s when they call us.

The question they ask us is simple, but it’s a big one: What do I do with this money?

We answer it the way a business owner would. We buy stock in 20 to 25 companies. We pick each one the same way you would pick a business to buy. Does it make real money? Does it spend that money wisely? Is it built to last? Your portfolio runs in the background while you keep running the business. That way, your money is working as hard as you do, without taking up your entire day.

Who we work with

Most of our clients took similar paths to find us:

First, they bought some real estate. Then maybe they put some money into a friend’s business (which usually didn’t go very well). Meanwhile, their company kept growing and making more money than they needed, and they started asking what to do with it.

That is where we come in.

Our clients own home service businesses that make more money than they need right now. Most of them have never invested in the stock market before. They’re not looking for a firm that makes this more complicated than it needs to be. They are looking for someone who thinks the way they do.

The best time to build a second engine is when your first one is strong. You may be ready if:

  • Your business is consistently profitable.
  • You have more cash than you need to put back into the business.
  • You want things kept simple.
  • You’re thinking long-term: about your family, your team, and what your business makes possible.

How we invest

We are obsessed with businesses, not with the market.
Most investment firms watch interest rates and economic news. We watch businesses. That’s a very different job.

Think of it this way: Your company is already an investment. You know it inside and out. You know how much money it makes. You know how it stacks up against the competition. You know if the people running it are any good.

We do the same thing with companies on the stock market. We invest in 20 to 25 of them. We pick each one the way you would pick a business to buy. Does it make real money? Does it spend that money wisely? Is it built to last?

If yes, it might be worth owning.

We don’t chase trends, and we won’t shake things up because of one bad month. You wouldn’t shut down a whole part of your business because one supplier raised prices. We think the same way.

What our clients get

The short answer: Money you can get when you need it, an investment portfolio someone is watching closely, and one person who picks up the phone. The other part is harder to put into words because our clients talk about a feeling. Like their shoulders have finally dropped. The question they walked in with, “Am I doing the right thing?”, finally has an answer, and they go back to running the business.
In real terms, that means:

Navigating Financial Success with Insight & Expertises

Ready Access to Capital

Money you can access when you need it, without slowing down the business.

A Portfolio at Work

Investments that keep growing while someone is paying close attention to them.

More Choices Ahead

The flexibility to keep growing, buy out a partner, pass on the business, or sell on your terms.

What we do

The first call is short. No pressure. We talk about your situation, not ours. We will be honest with you. If we are not the right fit, we will say so. We are not trying to be the right firm for everyone. Schedule an introduction, or read more first:
